Hydrant Flushing
Utility crews will be flushing hydrants beginning Sunday night October 19th and ending October 30th as weather and temperatures allow. The estimated schedule of flushing routes can be searched on our interactive map.
Flushing will be performed between the hours of 9:00 pm and 4:30 am, Sunday nights through Friday mornings. All residents may temporarily experience fluctuations in water pressure or water discoloration. However, there are no safety or health concerns associated with the minerals that get stirred up.
Automatic sprinkler systems can impact hydrant flushing, so please have your system drained and winterized by October 19th. If you are unable to have your sprinkler system winterized by the 19th, please turn off your system from October 19th through October 30th.
Internal Plumbing Tips:
1) Residents should avoid doing laundry while flushing is taking place. Running cold water at the lowest tub or sink for a few minutes prior to starting laundry (after 4:30 am) is recommended.
2) It is advisable to bypass any filtration systems while flushing household plumbing as mineral deposits could overload filter membrane.
A follow-up call will be made when flushing is completed or suspended due to weather or temperatures. Thank you for your cooperation and patience.
