RW to Host Water Quality Open Houses- Posted 9/18/18

Today, Ridgewood Water announced that it is hosting a series of Community Open Houses in Wyckoff, Midland Park, Ridgewood and Glen Rock to provide the public with an opportunity to learn more about Ridgewood Water’s regular maintenance, system upgrades, and compliance with new and evolving regulations for drinking water, including Per - and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS).  PFAS are man-made chemicals that are found to be widespread and extremely persistent in the environment.

New Jersey recently became the first state to adopt stringent drinking water standards for PFNA, one PFAS substance. Ridgewood Water is in compliance with the state’s new standard of 13 parts per trillion. Future state regulations on PFOA and PFOS, two additional PFAS, are anticipated.

“Ridgewood Water is committed to being proactive in its communications and transparent with customers and interested community members,” said Richard Calbi, Jr., Director of Operations at Ridgewood Water.  “We are hosting these events to provide information and answer questions about what the utility is doing to provide customers with reliable, quality drinking water.”

Graphics, maps and information boards will be posted, and Ridgewood Water’s professional staff and technical experts will be available to speak one-on-one with participants on any water quality matter of interest. There will be no formal presentations. Ridgewood Water encourages people to stop by at their convenience anytime between 6 pm– 8 pm at any of the events.
